Foundation stone being laid for Nepal’s largest industrial park

Jhapa- The foundation stone is being laid for the China-Nepal Friendship Industrial Park, the largest industrial estate in Nepal, here on February 28. The location for the estate is 8 km south of Damak city. Park Chairperson Govinda Thapa informed at a press meet on Wednesday that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the estate. The estate being set up at the border of Damak Municipality 10, Kamal Rural Municipality 7 and Gauradaha Municipality-5 will cover 1,300 bighas of land. Nepal government has acquired the land for it. The government has already granted permission to bring in some Rs 65 billion Chinese investment for the park construction. Thapa further informed that it would be completed in two years. For the acquisition of land, the locals have been compensated with Rs 1.36 billion so far. T he land is taken in lease by the government for forty years. It is believed that 45,000 Nepalis will be employed directly after the construction of the industrial park where there will be factories on agriculture, textile, and electronic goods. Blacktopping of rural roads

Myagdi- The blacktopping of the rural roads outside Beni bazaar has been going on in the district. The district which was connected to the national road network early in 2052BS had only few blacktopped sections as Beni bazaar, Beni-Galeshwor and Ratnechaur-Beni till recent time. Now, Ratne Chaur of Beni Municipality 1 and Babiyachaur bazaar have been blacktopped. Road Division Office Baglung blacktopped 1.3-km long road in Ratnechaur, according to Ward Chairperson of Beni-1, Tek Bahadur Rawal. Sarbasiddhi Construction Pvt had got the contract to blacktop the road at the cost of Rs 17.3 million. Similarly, the contract has been made at Rs 169 million for expanding and repairing the Bhakunde road section via Arjam from Upallachaur in the district. Ratnechaur is the entry point of ring road envisioned by Beni Municipality. With the collaboration of Gandaki Province government, Mangala Rural Municipality has blacktopped the Babiyachaur bazaar. Engineer at the rural municipality, Sujan Poudel informed that the roadway with 620 meter length was pitched at the cost of Rs 13 million....

Truck hit kills rickshaw puller

Makawanpur- A rickshaw puller died after a truck hit him at Nawalpur of Hetauda Sub-Metropolis-11 early this morning. The dead one is Khemlal Shrestah, 36, from Hetauda Sub-Metropolis-11, according to District Police Office. Deputy Superintendent of Police Indra Bahadur Rana informed that the truck (Na 6 Kha 4044) heading to Hetauda from Manahari hit the rickshaw (Na 1 Ha 3408) coming from opposite direction. Injured seriously in the accident, Shrestha was taken to nearby Churehill Hospital, but the doctor announced him dead in no time. The truck driver has been absconding since the accident. Police have been investigating the incident after impounding the truck. Search for the truck driver is on. Now, the dead body has been taken to Hetauda Hospital for post mortem....

Justice prevails with SC verdict: Leader Pandey

Chitwan- Nepal Communist Party (NCP) standing committee member and former finance minister Surendra Prasad Pandey said Supreme Court’s decision on reinstatement of House of Representatives (HoR) has helped justice prevail in Nepal. Leader Pande said it while addressing a victory assembly here on Wednesday. ‘SC decision has saved democracy and constitution. Regressive move has been defeated; he reminded, saluting the justices and legal practitioners. The people in Chitwan are always for justice, he said, adding that Chairpersons duo Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Madhav Kumar Nepal were leading the mainstream NCP. According to him, the SC decision has recognized it as mainstream. Moreover, leader Pande said time has come for NCP to be united. He urged those deviating from mainstream to join it back. Bagmati Province Chairperson of the party Narayan Dahal viewed that Supreme Court decision to reinstate House of Representatives has restored the constitutional supremacy. ‘Now, the country should be directed to prosperity with cooperation and collaboration will all political parties; he added. PM won’t resign: Minister Shrestha

Bhaktapur- Minister for Education, Science and Technology Krishna Gopal Shrestha has said Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli would not resign from the post at all. PM does not resign from the post merely for anyone’s demand, he added. Minister Shrestha made such remark in the wake of Supreme Court’s verdict on reinstatement of the House of Representatives. He said it while speaking at a programme organized on the 33rd annual general meeting of the Council of Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) on Wednesday. The ruling party leader further argued, “PM will face the situation as no-confidence motion. PM Oli faces the parliament process.” The Minister however said the NCP would respect the Supreme Court verdict. He further blamed that some leaders were lobbying for PM post. “Only dreaming PM post does not ensure PM to anyone,” he added. Moreover, Minister Shrestha warned those leaders demanding PM’s resignation on moral ground to bring forth no-confidence motion against PM. “This government is not that timid to step down quickly, it faces any sort of situation,” he underscored.
