Two killed, seven injured in road accident

Gorkha- Two people have died and seven others were injured in a road accident that took place at Rangrung in Salikot rural municipality-2 of the district. The accident took place on Saturday evening when a jeep (Na. 5 Cha. 3298) returning from Barpak fell off some 200 meters below the road. The deceased have been identified as Thakur Duwadi,48, and Rameswar Neupane,50, of Bichaur in Dudhpokhari rural municipality-2, Lamjung district, DSP at the District Police Office, Gorkha Prakash Dahal said. Seven others were injured in the accident, of which the condition of two is reported to be critical. They have been rushed to Chitwan after undergoing primary treatment at Gorkha Hospital. The seriously injured are Bishnu Neupane,31, and Anil Marhatta,28, of Dudhpokhari rural municipality-2, Lamjung district. Other injured are Amrit Duwada,18, Bishnu Duwadi,30, Bishnu Duwadi,29, of the same locality, Santosh Tamang,20, of Besisahar municipality-1 and Suhil Nara of Byas municipality-1 in the same district, DSP Dahal said. NC President Deuba stresses reviewing common agenda of education

Kathmandu- Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuwa has stressed the need of reviewing the common agenda of education as guaranteed in the constitution. It is necessary to review education to resolve the related problems, he said while addressing an inaugural ceremony of the federal representatives of the Nepal Teachers’ Association here Saturday. Likewise, NC senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel said there is a need to form a new government led by the NC to resolve various problems facing the country. On the occasion, former chairpersons of the Association, Keshab Bhattarai, Mohan Gyawali and Keshab Niraula, and president of the Nepal Trade Union, Pushkar Acharya, drew the attention of stakeholders to their failure to resolve problems in education. Construction Works starts at Government of India funded 2 schools in Kavre

Kathmandu – The boomi pooja for reconstruction of Shree Harisiddhi Secondary School at Roshi Rural Municipality and Shree Siddheshower Secondary School at Mahabharat Rural Municipality was carried out today by  Shree Maniram Gelal, Secretary, National Reconstruction Authority  Government of Nepal in the presence of Smt Soumya C, First Secretary (Political) Embassy of India, Mayor of the Roshi Rural Municipality. Project Director of Central Level Project Implementation Unit (CLPIU) Education of the National Reconstruction Authority of GoN, officials from Embassy of India and NRA, representatives of the School Management Committee, local community members and students of the school also attended the event. The Shree Harisiddhi Secondary School is being reconstructed at a cost of NRs 28.4 million and Shree Siddheshower Secondary school is being reconstructed at a cost of NRs 39.6 million. These schools will be built as per earthquake-resilient reconstruction norms of Government of Nepal. The new infrastructure of Harisiddhi Secondary School will include single 3 storied block with 9 classrooms, lab room, library and separate block for sanitation facilities. Democracy at risk: Leader Poudel

Senior leader of the Nepali Congress, Ramchandra Poudel, has expressed worry over the activities that were jeopardizing democracy and country. At a condolence gathering organized on the seventh day of the passing away of NC central member and former minister Nabindra Raj Joshi at Devghat on Thursday, senior leader Poudel said the uncertainty was taking toll on Nepal casting further chaos. “Currently, sheer uncertainty is afflicting the country. It is a bad omen for democracy,” he reminded.
