Fishery getting popular among Kushma folks

Parbat- Youths of Kushma Municipality in Parbat have been attracted to fishery. Fishery is gradually thriving in Wari Ambot, Dobilla, Pakuwa, Chuwa, Khurkot and Pang. The grant from the government, farmers’ hardship and labour have led to the rise in fishery. Modikhola and Kaligandaki River banks are used for raising fish. According to municipality’s livestock service section chief Mitralal Sapkota, the number of people engaged in commercial fishery has reached 40 in the district. The municipality is assisting youths back to home from abroad due to Covid-19 crisis and other reasons to purse self-employment opportunities. Sapkota said fishery is becoming the choice of youths in the locality. The local government assists in pond constructions and distribution of fries. On Friday, it distributed fries to 22 farmers. Each got 500 to 5,000 fries on demand basis. Farmer Devi Chhetri said they were motivated with the local government assistance. ‘I supplied fish worth Rs 150 thousands during the lockdown,” Chhetri shared. NRNA supports 170 thousand Nepalis during Covid-19 crisis

Kathmandu- The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has provided relief assistance to around 170 thousand Nepalis living in different countries. The beneficiaries were from over 300 cities of 50 countries. The NRN unveils the details of rescue and relief it had provided during the global crisis caused by coronavirus. The Association had ensured the PCR tests of 324 Nepali migrant workers before they returned home. Similarly, 217 people were partially supported for return air tickets. Those who became jobless, forced to return home for minor mistakes, women, people with disabilities, ill and people with special conditions were the beneficiaries of the NRNA. The NRN had majorly focused its rescue and relief efforts in Malaysia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UE), Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman where there were more Nepali migrant workers. NRNA President Kumar Pant informed this through a virtual press meet. The returnees were also given mental health counseling and the Nepal government had facilitated in the return procedures of migrant workers. NRNA General Secretary Dr Hemraj Sharma said over 200 (Nepali) doctors were mobilised across the globe to respond to health issues after Covid-19. Special attention needed on development works: CM Bhatta

Sudurpaschim- Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province Trilochan Bhatta has said that special attention should be paid while carrying out development and construction works in the province. Speaking at the inaugural session of the Sripur drinking water project at Godavari municipality-7 of Kailali on Saturday, he said water sources are drying up hence special attention should be paid to protect them while carrying out the development works. ‘Development works have accelerated recently, but attention needs to be paid to the destruction that it brings along’, he said. New VISA rule for foreigners in South Korea

Jeevan Khatri, Seoul-  The Law Ministry of South Korea has introduced a new rule of VISA extension for foreign citizens in the country. According to the new rule, VISA extension will now apply only on valid passports i.e. the passport which has not expired and has a valid date. A notice on the new rule has been issued while a communication about the new rule was also sent to the Nepali Embassy here. The communication says that a passport must have a valid date for VISA extension. Based on the communications from the Law Ministry, the Nepali Embassy has also issued a notice to all Nepalis living in South Korea. The new law will be of special concern for the Nepali workers currently in Korea under the Employment Permit System. The workers who arrive here under the EPS have a three-year contract under the E9 VISA and can extend it by 1 year 10 months after the end of the contract. But as per the new rule, if the passport has expired the VISA extension cannot take place. The new rule comes into effect from coming July 1. Anyone who is not able to renew their passport for various reasons can have VISA extension only till coming December. It has come to be known that the passport of 16,130 foreign citizens currently in South Korea has expired in 2020....

35 houses gutted in fire

Sinja- Thirty-five houses were gutted in a fire that took place at Mulli in Dhipugaon, ward no. 9 of Tila rural municipality of Jumla. A total of 35 houses among the 75 houses in Mulli have already been turned into ashes in the fire, ward chair Sher Bahadur Bohara said. All the food stock inside the houses was gutted in the fire. This is the village where people in this region spend six months is a year and hence stockpile food grains. People come down to Dhipugaon to save themselves from snowfall and excessive cold. Meanwhile, ward chair Bohara has appealed to all stakeholders for rescue and relief support to the fire survivors. The fire is still waging and is out of control. Chief District Officer of Jumla Bhupendra Thapa said that a team of police has been sent to the site soon after the incident was reported....
