Kathmandu — As a gesture of friendship and goodwill, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, today handed over 15 electric vehicles to Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba.
The vehicles have been gifted by the Government of India to facilitate logistical arrangements for the successful organization of the first edition of the ‘Sagarmatha Sambad’, which is being held in Kathmandu from May 16 to 18 under the theme “Climate Change, the Himalayas, and the Future of Humanity.”
These electric vehicles, provided upon the request of the Government of Nepal, are expected to significantly support the logistical needs during the event and ensure smooth mobility for delegates and officials.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Ambassador Srivastava highlighted that the vehicles will help ease transportation for guests and dignitaries during the dialogue. He also recalled India’s previous logistical support during Nepal’s federal and provincial elections in 2022, where India provided similar assistance to Nepal’s law enforcement agencies and the Election Commission.
Ambassador Srivastava extended his best wishes for the success of the dialogue and reaffirmed India’s continued commitment to partnering with Nepal in mutual progress and development.
Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the Government of Nepal, Foreign Minister Dr. Deuba expressed sincere gratitude for India’s support in facilitating the event. She acknowledged India as one of Nepal’s oldest and largest development partners.
India and Nepal share a multi-dimensional and multi-sectoral development partnership that reflects the deep-rooted people-to-people ties between the two countries. This kind of logistical cooperation exemplifies India’s ongoing support in strengthening bilateral relations and promoting regional cooperation.
