Malekhu (Dhading)-  Aug 23: Eight people are confirmed dead in the Dhading bus accident today. A bus (Province 3-01-005 Kha 9952) heading to Beni of Myagdi district from Kathmandu skidded off the road and plunged into the Trishuli river killing at least eight people and injuring over a dozen others.

The deceased included a child and two women, said the local people, who voluntarily involved in rescue efforts. At least 17 injured people have been rescued, and of them 13 were sent to Kathmandu for treatment, and four others are receiving care at the Gajuri community hospital, said Superintendent of Police Gautam Mishra.

A team of divers are searching for the missing ones in the accident, he said. A joint team of Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and local people has been deployed for the rescue efforts. The ill-fated bus met with the accident while overtaking, it is presumed.
