KATHMANDU: First Secretary of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, Karun Wanshal, has inaugurated a school building for Shree Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Buddhabhumi Municipality, Kapilvastu District.

Nepal was represented by Kapilvastu-2 MP Brijesh Kumar Gupta, District Coordinating Committee Chief Baburam Acharya, Buddhabhumi Municipality Mayor Keshav Shrestha and others.

The project has been constructed at a cost of NRs 34 million with the financial assistance of the Government of India as a community development project under the India-Nepal Development Cooperation Program in the field of education. This project is one of the projects to be inaugurated in Nepal this year under the “Amrit Mahotsav of Independence” initiated by the Government of India to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence.

Shree Madhyamik Vidyalaya is an old school in Kapilvastu district. This newly constructed infrastructure will create a conducive environment for learning in schools.

Since 2003, India has launched more than 527 high-impact community development projects in Nepal, with 470 projects completed in seven provinces in the areas of health, education, drinking water, connectivity, sanitation and other public amenities. Of them, five are in Kapilvastu district and 60 in Lumbini.

India and Nepal have a long-standing strong development partnership that reflects the closeness between the two countries. The implementation of this project reflects the Government of India’s continued support to the Government of Nepal’s efforts in the development of educational infrastructure.
