Birendranagar– The construction of a bridge over the Bheri River in Surkhet, the capital of the Karnali Province, has come to a final stage.

Almost 90 percent of the construction of the bridge linking Jamu of Panchapuri municipality and Takhakuna has complete.

The contract for the construction was awarded to Lumbini Himdung JB Construction. The bridge has the length of 350 metres.

Though the timeline served for the construction was five years according to the agreement the bridge will be ready for operation even earlier, shared engineer of construction company Dinesh Kumar Shrestha.

“We will complete the construction of bridge on time”, he said, adding that the enthusiastic support and participation from locals, political parties and employees contributed much to speed up the construction.
The final construction of the bridge is likely to be carried out within 16 September, he shared.

It may be noted that the Bheri River had seen massive flooding in 2014 which also had swept away a suspension bridge in Panchapuri municipality-10. The flooding had rendered 93 families displaced. Since then, boats have been used to cross the river, putting lives at risk. RSS
