Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai said the federal government would take initiative to enable an environment for processing cardamom at local level.

As Taplejung is a high cardamom-yielding district in comparison to other adjoining districts, the establishment of a processing centre at local level would benefit entire district people, he claimed. Minister Bhattarai who is on his visit to different rural municipalities of home district Taplejung pledged that the federal government would pay special attention for the setup of the centre since the processed cardamom has a good scope for both marketing and employment generation.

Cardamom farming has been done in all other areas apart from Olangchungola but the farmers have been hit hard for not getting appropriate price. Minister Bhattarai also pledged to complete the blacktopping of roads linking all local levels of the district for convenient transport in rural areas within two years. In lack of accessible road connectivity, marketization of local productions has faced a hiccup in the district which is directly associated to the lives and livelihoods of the local people.

The minister had inaugurated the party office of Nepal Communist Party Meringden rural municipality committee and Palika committee office of the National Youth Association on last Monday. RSS
