Kathmandu – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and damage caused by the devastating floods in Nepal. Modi spoke with Nepali Prime Minister Balendra Shah over the phone and conveyed his condolences to those who lost their lives in the disaster.
During the conversation, Modi said that the people of India stand in solidarity with the people of Nepal during this difficult time. He expressed his sympathy to the families affected by the floods and conveyed India’s support to the Government and people of Nepal.
Modi also assured that India is ready to provide all possible humanitarian assistance to Nepal. He said India would prioritize providing the necessary support for ongoing search, rescue and relief operations in the flood-affected areas.
According to Modi, Indian teams are coordinating closely with the Nepali side regarding the ongoing rescue and relief efforts. Coordination is underway to facilitate the rescue of affected citizens, the supply of relief materials and other necessary humanitarian assistance.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Balendra Shah briefed Modi about the situation caused by the floods in Nepal. Nepal’s security agencies, including the Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, have been mobilized in the affected areas for search, rescue and relief operations.
The devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River has caused significant loss of life and property, particularly in Rasuwa and surrounding areas. Roads, bridges, hydropower projects and other physical infrastructure have also been damaged, while several people remain unaccounted for.
India’s assurance of full humanitarian support comes at a critical time as Nepal continues intensive search, rescue and relief operations in the flood-hit areas. The support and coordination from the neighboring country are expected to strengthen ongoing efforts to assist affected communities and rescue those still at risk.
