Lower House passes four ordinances

 A meeting of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the Federal Parliament, today endorsed the ‘National Assembly Members Election Ordinance- 2075’ with majority. Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Sher Bahadur Tamang presented the ordinance on behalf Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa for approval. Likewise, ‘National Medical Education Ordinance, 2075’ and the ‘Commission on Investigation into the Enforced Disappeared Persons, and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (first amendment) Ordinance- 2075’ were also passed by the meeting with majority. FinMin presents principles and priorities of upcoming budget

Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada tabled a proposal in the meeting of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the Federal Parliament, today, seeking the house initiate discussions on the principles and priorities of the Appropriation Bill for the Fiscal Year 2018/19 (except the tax proposal). On the occasion, the Finance Minister said that implementing the fundamental rights of the citizens as enshrined in the constitution and achieving rapid economic development was the government’s main priority. “The coming policies and programmes of the government would be focused on attaining the Sustainable Development Goals. Economic prosperity would be achieved by alleviating poverty,” he said, outlining the government’s economic priorities. Traffic along Pokhara-Baglung to be obstructed for six hours everyday

Traffic along Pokhara-Baglung road will be obstructed for more than six hours every day as the road is being expanded. Traffic on the Ghatte Khola-Naya Pul section will be halted from 7:00-8:30 am and 9:30-10:30 am in the morning, and 12:30- 2:00 pm and 5:00-8:30 pm.   According to site engineer Kashi Raj Bohara of Apex Construction Company, the company that has taken up the responsibility for the construction, traffic was halted in coordination with the office of Mid-Hill Highway Construction Project. “Though the road was halted for six hours, we have been able to work for only two hours. The movement has not been hampered due to the availability of an alternative road near Naya Pul,” he informed. However, Kaski Chief District Administrator Tara Nath Adhikari said that no official decision was made on the matter. “The project officials might have halted the movement for emergency reasons. But, permission from concerned authorities beforehand is needed for the same.” According to the project officials, the construction of Mid-Hill Highway has gathered pace and would be completed within three years.
