Kathmandu – The main opposition party in parliament, Nepali Congress, is convening a meeting of its central working committee today to discuss the contemporary political situation. The meeting has been called for 3 pm at the party’s central office in Sanepa, Lalitpur. The meeting shall also deliberate on internal topics of the party, party spokesman Bishwa Prakash Sharma said. He said the meeting will also form a party statute amendment drafting committee and also discuss on mobilizing the party’s internal organization. Kathmandu – Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Bidya Sundar Shakya, has said utmost initiatives would be taken to best utilise the labour, skills and capital earned by the Nepalis abroad, into the country. Mayor Shakya, who is in Japan in course of attending the Asia Pacific City Conference, said this in discussion with the Nepali diaspora. The KMC mayor is on visit to Japan at the special invitation of the Fukuoaka City mayor Takashima. Mayor Shakya participated in the City Conference which discussed issues related to management of cities and related challenges. Discussions were also held on the minimum requirements needed for a city and the development indicators as well. Surkhet – The police found a Naya Shakti Party leader dead in the Jugad river in Khalanga bazaar, Jumla on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Radha Krishna Budthapa, 43, of Chandannath Municipality-2. He was coordinator of Naya Shakti, Jumla. A police patrol team saw during their night duty a stranded motorcycle with headlight flashing dim light on the river banks leading to the finding of Budhthapa lying dead. “Budthapa had a snack at Sunlight Hotel in Jumla together with his friend Angal Lama. They took photos and sang songs before picking a fight over a dispute,” Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash KC said quoting the hotel owner Khadgajit Rokaya. They were intervened later and Lama was taken to his home. “Upon return after taking Lama to his home, Budthapa was not there in the hotel,” said KC.
