Bharatpur Hospital sets up isolation ward for corona virus patient

Bharatpur Hospital has maintained high alert after the epidemic of corona virus spread from neighbouring country China. For the patients suspected of corona virus, it has set up an isolation ward. Medical superintendent Shreeram Tiwari informed that an isolation ward was established so that the people suspected of corona virus could be provided special treatment. The isolation ward has five beds. Special doctors Pramod Poudel and Kalyan Sapkota have been given responsibility to run the ward. Both of them are physicians. Arrangement is made to conduct test in case of need and send the specimen to the National Public Health Laboratory, Kathmandu. Similarly, information officer at the Hospital Leeladhar Poudel said process was underway to publish awareness poster and pamphlets on the corona virus and disseminate to the larger public. NCP rural municipality committee chair thrashed

An unidentified gang has abducted and thrashed ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Alital Rural Municipality committee chair Gyanendra Shahi on Friday. According to Dadeldhura District Committee of the NCP, he was kidnapped while he was on the way to attending rural municipality ward meeting. NCP district committee secretary Birendra Kumar Basnet, said chair Shahi was thrashed at Chaurbandale and left stranded in the district. Portable overhead bridge at Chabahil chowk

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has started construction of a portable steel overhead bridge at Chabahil chowk of Kathmandu for convenience of the pedestrians. The bridge is going to be constructed at a cost of Rs 8.266 million. The KMC had already signed the agreement with construction company- Kanchhaman Construction Service on November 13, 2019, in this connection. As per the agreement, the construction of the 23 metres long and two metres wide bridge should be completed within July 11, 2020. KMC mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya laid the foundation stone for the bridge on Thursday. Mayor Shakya said that the KMC would construct other overhead bridges gradually at the places with high flow of pedestrians for their safety and to make movement of city vehicles smooth. Similarly, the KMC is to construct overhead bridges at Jaybageshwori and Maitighar completing it within current fiscal year. Frequent winter rain damages vegetable crops in Banke

Unexpected frequent winter rain has affected vegetable farming in Banke district. According to the Agriculture Knowledge Centre Banke’s crops protection officer Sakil Ahamad, several varieties of vegetable crops such as potato, tomato, cauliflower, cabbage and chilly farming were damaged by winter rains. The loss is estimated up to 75 per cent. Vegetable farming in the district covers 6,000 hectares of land in the district. Potato and tomato crops have been affected largely as their farming scale is higher than of other crops. Crops cultivated in slope land suffered less damage. Insurance amount for girl child to be increased from Rs 100 thousand to Rs 300 thousand in State-2

The State-2 government has decided to raise the insurance amount from its current Rs 100 thousand to Rs 300 thousand for the education of the girl child in the State. In a press conference organized here Friday, Chief Minister of State-2 Lalbabu Raut informed about the hike. The State-2 had introduced the insurance scheme to encourage and empower girls under the flagship ‘Beti Bachau Beti Padhau’ (Save Girl Child, Educate Girl Child) campaign in mid-January last year. Furthermore, CM Raut informed that 4,373 girls under 18 years have been benefited from the scheme so far. The new decision also includes that the insurance amount would be provided to the beneficiaries from the local units in lump sum rather than the State government for which they ought to obtain the citizenship identity card and complete their education to certain level. He also said that request would be made to local units to consider further increasing the insurance amount up to Rs 600 thousand.
