India to fund NRs 530 million for reconstruction of 25 health posts

Kathmandu – Head of Development Partnership and Reconstruction wing of the Embassy of India, Nepal and Project Director of Central Level Project Implementation Unit (Building) of National Reconstruction Authority signed four MoUs for reconstruction of total 25 health posts in Nepal. 12 health posts are located in Dhading district and 13 are located in Sindhupalchowk district and these health posts, damaged during the 2015 earthquake will be reconstructed at a cost of NR 530 million. n the same occasion, four Contract Agreements, award the work to successful bidders were also signed between CLPIU (Building) and Contractors. The Central Building Research Institute (CBRI)-Roorkee, a premier institute of India in thefield of earthquake-resilient reconstruction, will be providing technical assistance during for the reconstruction. These 25 health posts are the first batch of 147 health sector projects being reconstructed by NRA under the Government of India reconstruction grant of US $ 50 million for health sector in ten districts of Nepal. The remaining projects are in advanced stage of tender process. The Central Building Research Institute (CBRI), Roorkee, a premier institute, will provide technical hand-holding for construction of these health facilities. The health facilities will have OPD, dispensary, medicine store rooms, ante/post-natal room, bedrooms for duty doctors/ medical staff, kitchen and disable friendly sanitation facilities. Work begins for reconstruction of Champa Devi Secondary School, Dakshinkali

Kathmandu, Work started for reconstruction of Champa Devi Secondary School, Dakshinkali, affected by earthquake of 2015. Sushil Gyawali, CEO National Reconstruction Authority of Government of Nepal and Naveen Kumar, Head of Press, Information and Culture wing of the Embassy of India, Mayor of the Dakshinkali Municipality jointly carried out the ground breaking for reconstruction. Representatives of School Management Committee and local community members also attended the event. This is the 66th school being reconstructed under the Government of India grant assistance for reconstruction in the education sector. India has committed US $ 50 million for reconstruction of total 71 educational institutions in 8 districts of Nepal. India has also committed grant of another 200 million for reconstruction projects in the health, cultural heritage and housing sectors. Champa Devi Secondary School is being reconstructed at a cost of NRs 68.5 million and will be built as per earthquake-resilient reconstruction norms of Government of Nepal. 429,000 plus vaccinated against Covid-19

Kathmandu- More than 429,000 people have been vaccinated against Covid-19 in the first phase in Nepal. Director General at Health Service Department under the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr. Dipendra Raman Singh, informed that 429,705 Nepalis were vaccinated against Covid-19 in the first phase. The frontline workers as health/medical persons and journalists were provided vaccination after the government brought 1 million doses of Covishield from the Indian government in grant. The vaccination drive was begun from January 27. The first phase of the vaccination drive occurred in two rounds- first from January 27 to February 6, and second from February 14 to 22. The Ministry achieved 85.65 percent success in the first phase of vaccine administration. It had planned to administer vaccine to 507,606 persons in the first phase. The recent vaccination covered 1.4 percent of the total population in Nepal, Singh added. A fresh consignment of 1 million doses of Covishield has arrived from India....

Foundation stone being laid for Nepal’s largest industrial park

Jhapa- The foundation stone is being laid for the China-Nepal Friendship Industrial Park, the largest industrial estate in Nepal, here on February 28. The location for the estate is 8 km south of Damak city. Park Chairperson Govinda Thapa informed at a press meet on Wednesday that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli was scheduled to lay the foundation stone for the estate. The estate being set up at the border of Damak Municipality 10, Kamal Rural Municipality 7 and Gauradaha Municipality-5 will cover 1,300 bighas of land. Nepal government has acquired the land for it. The government has already granted permission to bring in some Rs 65 billion Chinese investment for the park construction. Thapa further informed that it would be completed in two years. For the acquisition of land, the locals have been compensated with Rs 1.36 billion so far. T he land is taken in lease by the government for forty years. It is believed that 45,000 Nepalis will be employed directly after the construction of the industrial park where there will be factories on agriculture, textile, and electronic goods. Blacktopping of rural roads

Myagdi- The blacktopping of the rural roads outside Beni bazaar has been going on in the district. The district which was connected to the national road network early in 2052BS had only few blacktopped sections as Beni bazaar, Beni-Galeshwor and Ratnechaur-Beni till recent time. Now, Ratne Chaur of Beni Municipality 1 and Babiyachaur bazaar have been blacktopped. Road Division Office Baglung blacktopped 1.3-km long road in Ratnechaur, according to Ward Chairperson of Beni-1, Tek Bahadur Rawal. Sarbasiddhi Construction Pvt had got the contract to blacktop the road at the cost of Rs 17.3 million. Similarly, the contract has been made at Rs 169 million for expanding and repairing the Bhakunde road section via Arjam from Upallachaur in the district. Ratnechaur is the entry point of ring road envisioned by Beni Municipality. With the collaboration of Gandaki Province government, Mangala Rural Municipality has blacktopped the Babiyachaur bazaar. Engineer at the rural municipality, Sujan Poudel informed that the roadway with 620 meter length was pitched at the cost of Rs 13 million....
