Fire guts properties worth Rs. 4 million

Tanahu- Properties worth Rs 4 million gutted in a fire that broke out in Hotel Sa:Sa Inn at Vyas Municipality in Tanahun district at 2:00 am this morning. The District Police Office, Tanahun, said that the fire occurred after an explosion in a power transmitter near the hotel following the power leakage. The fire was taken under control after some times with the help of fire brigade, security personnel and local people, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Yubraj Timilsina. DSP Timilsina said that the reception lounge of the hotel was fully damaged in the fire. Some guests from the hotel were rescued after the fire. No human casualty was reported in the incident....

Ambassador Regmi assumes office

Krishna Prasad Sharma, Londo- Newly-appointed Nepali ambassador to the United Kingdom, Lok Darshan Regmi assumed office on Monday. Regmi replaces the outgoing ambassador Durga Bahadur Subedi who has recently returned to Nepal on completion of his four-year term. Regmi is the 21st ambassador of Nepal to the UK. He served as the Chief Secretary of the Government of Nepal in 2017 after serving as the Secretary in various Ministries. Regmi, who arrived in London on Monday, took charge of office the same day. Officials at the Nepali Embassy in London including the military attaché and other staff welcomed Regmi at Heathrow Airport, spokesperson for the embassy and Deputy Chief of Mission, Roshan Khanal said....

Dr. Rawal named as Acting Vice-Chancellor of KAHS

Karnali- The government has designated Dr. Mangal Rawal as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of Karnali Academy of Health Sciences. The Ministry of Health and Population gave such responsibility to the hospital’s director Dr Rawal. The post of Academy’s Vice-Chancellor was laying vacant after the tenure of Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Rajendra Wagle ended recently.  Academy’s Pro-Chancellor and Minister for Health and Population Hridayesh Tripathi provided Dr Rawal with the responsibility on Monday. Associate Professor Rawal is an orthopedist. Dr Rawal, a permanent resident of Humla district, was serving as the Director of Karnali Academy of Health Sciences hospital for one and a half years....

Nepalis in South Korea provide financial assistance to Bhagirathi’s family

Jiban Khatri, North Korea-  Sudurpaschim Samaj based in South Korea has provided financial support to the family of Bhagirathi Bhatta of Baitadi. The organisation collected Rs 283,500 to assist the Bhatta family. Bhatta of Dogadakedar Rural Municipality was murdered after her rape almost a month ago. Treasurer of Samaj DR Paneru, former chairs Nar Bahadur Sarki and Dharma Raj Joshi, and others visited the family members of Bhagirathi in Baitadi and handed over the amount in the presence of rural municipality chairman Chakra Karki and other people’s representatives. Earlier, the organisation had initiated a campaign for fundraising in South Korea to support the family of Bhagirathi. A total of 169 people made their contributions to collect the fund....

Organic farming system in far-west

Doti- In a bid to reduce the excessive use of chemical fertiliser in farming system, organic farming is being implemented in the districts of Sudurpaschim Province. This move is aimed reducing the impacts of chemical fertilisers through the promotion of organic farming system. At an interaction programme organised by Sudurpaschim Agricultural Development Directorate at Rajpur of Dipayal district on Monday, Director Yagyaraj Joshi shared that jobs have been started in all nine districts by allocating Rs 40 million for organic farming system. Officials said that the organic farming system was stressed to minimise the increasing impacts of chemical fertiliser. On the occasion, Chief District Officer of Doti, Bhim Prasad Bhattarai, said that organic production could be encouraged through the maintenance of quality of soil, more income generation, ensuring environmental balance and utlisation of locally available resources....
