10 roads under constructed with Indian assistance Handover to Nepal

Roads constructed under Postal Highway in support of Indian government have been handed over to the public today. Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Basant Kumar Nembang and Indian Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra jointly handed over the constructed roads built with grant assistance of Indian government. Under a Memorandum of Understanding between India and Nepal regarding strengthening of road infrastructure in Terai region of Nepal, Government of Nepal identified ten priority roads to be built under Government of India funding of NR 800 cr. These Terai roads are also called as Hulaki Raj Marg and connect major towns located on the East-West highway with India-Nepal border. These ten roads are located in seven border districts of Province 1, 2 and 5 of Nepal and provide smooth travel experience to people of over 284 wards, 149 villages, 18 gaunpalikas, 18 Nagar Palikas and 1 sub-metropolitan city. The Government of India funded ten Terai roads in Nepal are built as per the specifications prescribed by the Department of Roads of Nepal. Each road has a seven meter carriage way and two meters of shoulders on both sides. The roads also include drainage, foot paths with railings in habitation areas, road signage boards, road markings and other road furniture. INDIAN ARMY GIFTS 100,000 COVID-19 VACCINE DOSES TO NEPALI ARMY

Under the Government of India’s Vaccine Maitri’ Initiative, the Indian Army gifted 100,000 doses of Made in India vaccines to Nepal Army. In a ceremony at Nepal Army Headquarters, Tundikhel today, the vaccines were handed over by Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra to the Chief of Army Staff of the Nepali Army General Puran Chandra Thapa. Chief of the Army Staff of Indian Army General MM Naravane joined the ceremony through video conference from India.   He reaffirmed the special fraternal bonds that tie the armies of the two countries. Chief of the Army Staff of the Nepal Army General Thapa appreciated the gesture and thanked Indian Army and Government of India for the gift. 2. The vaccines had arrived at the Tribhuvan International Airport by an Air India flight on 28 th March 2021. India to fund NRs 230 million for reconstruction of three Cultural Heritage projects in Sindhupalchowk: Works Awarded

kathamandu , three Contract Agreements for reconstruction and restoration of Government of India funded Cultural Heritage projects were signed by National Reconstruction Authority and Contractors. the  three Gumbas are Chiri Ghyang Gumba, Tarkey Ghyang Gumba and Melamchi Ghyang Gumba of Sindhupalchowk district. The signing event was witnessed by Former State Minister of Finance Dr. Larkel Lama, Member of Provincial Assembly Mr. Nima Lama, Second Secretary of Development Partnership & Reconstruction Wing of Indian Embassy, Project Director of Cultural Projects of NRA, Chairpersons of respective Gumbas, GoI Project Consultant INTACH and stake holders. The three projects are part of 28 cultural heritage projects being taken up by the Government of India for post-earthquake conservation and restoration under a Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Government of Nepal. Upaya CityCargo and Kumari Bank Launch QR codes to Promote Cashless Digital

Kathmandu : Upaya CityCargo, in collaboration with Kumari Bank, launched a QR code payment system for Upaya CityCargo’s driver-partners today. Launched in the presence of key market actors that are promoting Nepal’s transition to a digital economy, such as F1Soft, UKaid Skills for Employment program, Nepal Rastra Bank, and others, the event called for stronger collaborative actions to accelerate the movement to a digital Nepal, build digital literacy, and expedite job creation. Upaya CityCargo and Kumari Bank’s partnership, with support from UKaid Seep, will enable driver-partners to conduct transactions using QR code; this enables them to enter the formal economy and use cashless transactions on a day-to-day basis. Bikash Dongol, 26, one of the driver-partners of Upaya CityCargo said, “after joining Upaya CityCargo, two years ago, I have already done upto 600 trips.I have had significant growth in my income, and also have access to insurance and digital payment service via Kumari Bank.The digital payment system has made transactions with clients more convenient.” Upaya CityCargo is implementing a digital literacy program for its two-wheeler and four-wheeler driver-partners with support from UKaid Seep.
