Kathmandu – A joint expedition team of the Nepalese and Indian armies is set to climb Mount Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world.

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh bid farewell to the joint expedition team during a flag-off ceremony held at the Ministry of Defence premises in New Delhi on Thursday.

Lieutenant General Dhruvaprakash Shah, Director General of the Directorate of Military Training of the Nepalese Army, also attended the ceremony.

The Kanchenjunga expedition will be led by Colonel Sarfaraz Singh of the Indian Army and will include 12 Indian and 6 Nepalese army personnel.

In addition, 35 Indian army personnel and 10 NCC cadets will undertake an expedition to Mount Everest.

Present at the farewell ceremony were India’s Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, and Nepal’s Ambassador to India, Dr. Shankar Prasad Sharma.
