Kathmandu – Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ came home from India yesterday. He arrived in India last Wednesday at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi and only came back to Nepal on Saturday with several important bilateral agreements.

Concerning the visit of the Prime Minister The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, said that there were fruitful discussions between the two neighbouring countries during the visit. “The fruitful discussions held during the visit will help broaden the understanding between the two countries and the perspectives of various aspects of the bilateral agenda, as well as help give a new direction to the deep partnership between us,” said the statement.

During the four-day visit, different agreements were signed between Nepal and India. Speaking at the press conference held after the bilateral talks held at Hyderabad House, Prime Minister Prachanda expressed his belief that the important agreement between the two countries will further help the development of the country. Similarly, Indian Prime Minister Modi said that the bilateral agreements will further strengthen the relationship between Nepal and India and also mentioned that they will find a solution to other problems including the border.

During the visit, 7 sector-related agreements were signed between the two countries, including renewing the Nepal-India Transport Agreement, bringing the cross-border petroleum pipeline from Amlekhganj to Chitwan and from Siliguri to Jhapa, building an integrated check post at Chandni Dodhara, and Nepal selling 10,000 megawatts of electricity to India in a decade.

At the Conference, the two Prime Ministers jointly inaugurated some projects by pressing buttons.
