Kathmandu – India’s 74th Republic Day has been celebrated today at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu with various programs.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava hoisted the national flag of India and started the program organized on the occasion of Republic Day. At the event, the President of India Mrs. Draupadi Murmu’s speech was read out on behalf of the nation.

In his address, President Murmu discussed the encouraging progress made by India in the economic field to achieve Gandhiji’s ideal of ‘Sarvodaya’ or ‘upliftment of all’ despite global economic uncertainty. She also mentioned that India’s presidency of the G-20 is an opportunity to promote democracy and multilateralism for the betterment of the whole world and the future.

In the event, Ambassador Srivastava honored the families of deceased Nepalis serving in the Indian Army by distributing cash and blankets of NPR 46 million. On that occasion, Ambassador Srivastava distributed books to various organizations in Nepal. The embassy said that it will distribute books worth NPR.1.6 million to 23 different organizations as a gift.

Reiterating its commitment to support retired servicemen, the Embassy has launched the Bhupu-2022 magazine featuring the Government of India’s welfare initiatives for ex-servicemen residing in Nepal. In the program, the students of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center and Kendriya Vidyalaya Kathmandu presented patriotic songs and other performances.
