Kathmandu-  On the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day of India, the Defense Division of the Embassy of India has organized a ‘Mobility Aid Distribution Camp’ for Indian Army and Assam Rifles’ Bhupu soldiers in Dharan.

The embassy has organized the camp under the auspices of the Dharan-based Pension Distribution Office as part of the ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’ program. According to the embassy, ​​the camp is one of the many efforts made by the Defense Department for the welfare of Indian Army Bhutanese soldiers.

Wheelchairs and crutches were provided to 32 disabled Bhupus and their family members in the camp. Bhupu soldiers and their family members suffering from age related disability / weakness and other health problems were identified through pension documentation camps and rallies.

On the occasion, Dharan-based VP The Orthopedics Department of the Koirala Institute of Health Sciences assisted in the health examination. The embassy believes that this kind of mobility aid will help the victims in their physical activities and help them connect with the society.

During the epidemic, the Defense Department is taking various measures to work for the benefit of the Bhutanese soldiers and the society and to solve their problems. The department has been carrying out various activities such as timely payment of pension, virtual identification, digitization, blood donation camp, distribution of rations, distribution of masks and sanitizers, assistance to local administration, distribution of wheelchairs, new documentation rallies to cover more areas.
