Kathmandu- Nepal Medical College, Jorpati Attarkhel has decided to give 100 percent discount on various services for one month. College has announced a one-month exemption for patients coming to the health service for treatment.

According to Basaruddhin Ansari, managing director of the college,  all types of general wards were provided free of cost to the poor, helpless and weak financially ill patients. The college has given 100 percent discount in the admission fee for emergency, OPD and general wards from 15th, Poush to 15th Magh (30th Dec to 29th Jan).

Patients who come to the college for any treatment now do not have to pay for OPD tickets for one month, while staying in general wards only pays 50 percent of the expenses.

“We have given 100 per cent discount on patient registration and admission fee to all patients coming to the emergency room, 100 per cent discount on registration of both new and old patients in OPD and 50 percent discount on bed fee to patients coming in ordinary beds,” said Managing Director Ansari at a press conference.

Ansari, who came to Nepal Medical College only six months ago, said that the exemption was given to those who could not get health care due to various reasons including poor, helpless, destitute, orphans, poor, single women and senior citizens. “We have the lower, middle and upper classes coming for treatment. “We have launched a campaign to provide free services to those who are financially strong while paying for the treatment of those who are weak, ” said Ansari.

Ansari has been making healthcare effective since he entered Nepal Medical College. Stating that the service of the hospital is being expanded in a timely manner, the college is going to make the ICU service more systematic and effective in the coming days. For this, 23 more ICU beds will be added.

Similarly, the Nepal Medical College has said that it will continue to make the services effective in the treatment of patients suffering from kidney and cancer. In the coming years, infrastructure including modern Cath lab will be added for the treatment of heart disease.

The college has made the emergency service more systematic and has 24-hour specialist doctors. Specialist doctors have been arranged to prevent any delay in the treatment of any patient coming to the emergency room. It is said that the emergency service is headed by a senior doctor who has gained experience in teaching hospital for a long time.

Similarly, the college is also planning to increase the services towards LAB. It is said that in the near future, additional CT scan and MRI of Three Tesla will be connected to the hospital’s lav. “We have one CT and MRI now, so we will connect one more CT and MRI in the near future,” stated Ansari, adding that the health services of Nepal Medical College will be made effective.

The college has also decided to give discounts to media persons for hospital services. Media persons carrying identity cards of the Department of Information and Communication Press Registrar’s Office will be exempted from LAB, Wade Charge and various treatment services.
