Lamjung, Jan 14: Spokesperson of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Narayan Kaji Shrestha, has said Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives needs to resign in order to retain Speaker’s post to the NCP. At a programme organized by the district chapter of Press Organization here Tuesday, Spokesperson Shrestha reminded that the constitution has not allowed the same party to have Speaker and Deputy Speaker. “Our party is the most dominant one in parliament. So, it is natural for us to claim Speaker’s post which is lying vacant. For it to happen, Deputy Speaker should step down,” he stressed. He also shared that Deputy Speaker was requested to step down as per the constitution. “As long as she sticks to the post, we lose the chance to get Speaker,” he claimed. On a different note, the Spokesperson said the border dispute with India in the far west is not new. Nepal has been continuously speaking for its sovereignty and territorial integrity. The government, for the first time, has made its stand clear through a formal channel that Kalapani and Lipulek along with Limpiyadhura belong to Nepal.
