Jajarkot- A couple was swept away by a river at Banfikot rural municipality in Western Rukum. Police confirmed the deaths of Amrit Gharti, 50, and his spouse Tulasa Gharti, 48, of Dulidulikha of Banfikot rural municipality-8 after being washed away by the local Badgai stream Friday.

According to the Area Police Office, Banfikot, the couple fell into the river as they slipped all of a sudden from a wooden bridge over the river in course of crossing it. The dead body of Amrit was recovered from about 200 meters down from the incident site on Friday evening while the body of Tulasa was retrieved from some 150 meters down from the incident site this morning. Police personnel and locals worked together to search for the missing couple, according to ward member Bheem Bahadur Bantha.RSS
