Kathmandu – A fruitful meeting was held in Kathmandu between India’s Minister for Power and Housing, Manohar Lal Khattar, and Nepal’s Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Deepak Khadka.

During the meeting, both ministers reviewed the overall energy cooperation between India and Nepal, covering key areas such as hydropower projects, new cross-border transmission lines, and bilateral electricity trade.

On the occasion, a significant milestone was achieved with the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between India’s Power Grid Corporation (PGCIL) and the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for the construction of two 400 kV transmission corridors: Inaruwa–New Purnia and Dodhara–Bareilly.

Ministers Khattar and Khadka witnessed the MoU signing ceremony, and both leaders described the agreement as a symbol of deepening energy collaboration between the two nations, laying a strong foundation for future cooperation.
