Kathmandu- National Democracy Day-2077 BS is being celebrated with various programs across the country today. A special function has been organized at Sainik Manch Tundikhel on Friday in the presence of President Bidyadevi Bhandari.
During the program, cannons and guns were raised by the Nepal Army and prayers and remembrance were offered to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for democracy. The program was attended by President Bidyadevi Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun, heads of constitutional bodies, security agencies, staff and representatives of diplomatic missions.
The government has been celebrating the day with a formal ceremony on March 22 to commemorate the day democracy was declared in the country after the end of Rana rule.
Democracy is based on democracy and a federal democratic republican system of governance has been established in the country.
