Hetauda’s cinema hall on fire; efforts underway to bring blaze under control

HETAUDA– The OMax Cinema hall in Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City-4 of Makawanpur district is now on fire. According to police, the fire that started from the screen at 8:00 am today has spread in the cinema hall completely destroying the seats. The fire has turned massive since nobody detected the fire at the cinema belonging to a member of Film Development Board Nepal, Narendra Maharjan. The staffers only came to know about the blaze after an hour. A fire engine from Hetauda Sub-Metropolis and another from Nepal Oil Corporation, Amlekhgunj, Bara have been mobilised to the site to douse the fire. Meanwhile, the firefighters with the help of security personnel have been fighting to bring the blaze under control. Trump blames environmental laws for California fires

New Delhi– United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday blamed “bad environmental laws” for California wildfires and said the state is burning because the laws aren’t allowing available water to be properly utilised. “California wildfires are being magnified & made so much worse by the bad environmental laws which aren’t allowing massive amounts of readily available water to be properly utilized. It is being diverted into the Pacific Ocean. Must also tree clear to stop fire from spreading,” President Trump tweeted. Minor killed, parents injured in landslide

Banepa– A child was killed while his parents were injured when a landslide hit their house at Narikharka of Mandandeupur of Kavrepalanchok district early this morning. According to district police office chief Rabiraj Khadka, the deceased minor has been identified as 18 months old Deepak Tamang. Flood poses threat to17 families

Myagdi– As many as 17 families are facing serious threat due to continuous landslips from the cliff above human settlement at Beni municipality-4, Surkemela village. The disaster has prompted the vulnerable families to seek safe shelter at the homes of relatives and neighbours. The mudslide from the hill of Beni municipality-3 to human settlement located in the bottom has posed a menace to the families. Besides, the landslide-triggered flood has initiated eroding the residential area, increasing further risks to the local dwellers. Noted artist Mishra passes away

Kathmandu– Noted artist and literary figure Manuj Babu Mishra passed away due to cardiac arrest this morning. He was 83. Mishra breathed his last at 2.00 am while he was asleep at his residence, said the family sources. Suffering from high blood pressure, Mishra has not come outside his residence (cave) for the past two decades. His autobiographical piece ‘Adhai Dashak Gufama (Two-and-a-half Decades in Cave)’ was published two years ago. The Late Mishra is the father of Coordinator of the Bibeksheel Sajha Party, Rabindra Mishra, and Principal of College of Journalism and Mass Communications, Dr Manju Mishra.
