Five houses gutted in fire

Jajrkot : Five houses were gutted in a fire that broke out in Mangsiri of Nalgad municipality. The fire reportedly spread from the forest fire in the local Naadhari forest. In the incident that took place last night, the houses of Ammar Bahadur Singh, Khadka Singh, Bedraj Singh, Chandra Bahadur Singh and Yagya Bahadur Singh were burnt to ashes, according to teacher Manod Sharma of Himalaya basic school. All assets inside the house were damaged while livestock were killed. In a similar incident on Friday, five houses and 15 cow-sheds were burnt to ashes in Dandakahun of Paiyun rural municipality-6 of Parbat district. The fire from the Dandakahun forest spread to the nearby settlement, engulfing the houses. The houses of locals Sher Prasad Gautam, Resham Lal Gautam, Nam Prasad Sapkota, Resham Lal Sapkota and Jaya Kala Sapkota were fully gutted in the fire, while the houses of Khadga Prasad Gautam, Ek Narayan Gautam, Cholakanta Sapkota, Chabi Lal Gautam and Umesh Gautam suffered partial damage, according to police inspector at Area Police Office, Hubash Bijaya Kumar Singh. National Census: collection of data including financial access

Siddharaj Bhatta, Sudurpaschim-  The national census being held next year, 2078, is to collect data on people’s financial access, bank account, number of houses built on government grant and their structure. It is the first time such data are being collected in the census. Detailed information would be collected on number of Nepali people absent in the country, ancestral language, and people living with disabilities. Information to this was shared by Director at Central Bureau of Statistics, Badri Kumar Karki. ‘National census this time is being conducted in a comprehensive and different way,’ he said, adding that Bureau had already set up 37 census offices at local levels of Sudurpaschim Province. There are two census offices in Kailali district. Currently, a seminar is being held at Dhangadhi for the necessary preparation of the national census. Training to supervisor, area census officer, and enumerators is provided as part of seminar. For the census, the households would be listed from May 9 to 28. The ward level information would be gathered under community questionnaire- agricultural products, its exports, major source of revenue, ethnic communities facing extinct, marginalized community, and physical, health and social facilities at ward, status of disaster risk, loss caused by wild animals etc....

No discrimination on budget allocation: CM Poudel

Makawanpur- Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Dormani Poudel, has said the government did not discriminate political parties in terms of allocation and use of budget in various districts of the province. The budget was utilized based on the policies and programmes of the current fiscal year, he made it clear. CM Poudel said it while furnishing response to a query by lawmaker Shalikram Jammakattel in the meeting of the province assembly on Wednesday. He further said government was not influenced by any political interest but spending budget in line with economic standard. Poudel further said Rs 5 million was provided to the Madan Bhandari Foundation as per economic standard. ‘Necessary preparations were made for the operation of electric bus. The bus routes would be finalized after the suggestion from the technical experts’,  he informed the meeting, adding that tender notice was issued to purchase 30 electric buses for the first phase to be operated from Makwanpur to federal capital Kathmandu and in Hetauda city too. According to him, Nepal Electricity Authority had already issued tender notice to set up 50 charging stations in 10 cities including Kathmandu and along Tribhuvan Highway. Rapti ‘cold store’ is in Operation with the Collabration of India

Dang – Rapti Cold Store has come into operation with Indian assistance. Karun Wanshal, Chief of Administration of the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu, inaugurated the cold store at Lamahi Bazaar in Dang on Saturday. The cold store with a capacity of 3200 MT has been constructed Total cost is Rs. 96.6 million  with a grant of Rs 42.5 million. Projects has been completed under ‘Nepal-Bharat Development Cooperation’ programme as High Impact Community Development Projects. The Rapti cold storage building is equipped to preserve vegetable, fruits and perishable agriculture produce. The fully operational new cold storage facility is envisaged to help farmers of the area to prolong commercial value of their agri-produce and is expected to assist in raising incomes of small and medium farmers of the area.    ...
