Kathmandu – The accused in the death of Prakriti Lamsal, a student studying at the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Odisha, India, has been arrested and an investigation has been initiated.
In a statement, the Bhubaneswar police said that a 21-year-old Indian youth, who is said to be the accused in the incident, has been taken into custody and an investigation has been initiated.
Siddhant Sigdel, a 24-year-old student studying B. Tech (Mechanical) in the third year of the same university, filed a complaint at the Infocity police station on Sunday’, the police said.
‘The accused student Advik Srivastava was arrested on 17-02-2025 and sent to judicial custody on the same day i.e. 17-02-2025,’ the statement said, ‘Investigation of the case is ongoing, in which documents and electronic gadgets have been seized as evidence.’
Similarly, the police said that the instruction issued to the protesting Nepali students at the university to return home has been withdrawn and the students have been appealed to return.
It has also been informed that the security of the Nepali students has also been ensured. The police have also promised to conduct a fair investigation into the case.
