Kathmandu, June 27 (RSS): Now, the people with disabilities would be allowed to climb the highest peak of the world.
The constitutional bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshi, Justices Om Prakash Mishra, Cholendra Shumsher Rana, Dipak Raj Karki, Kedar Prasad Chalise gave the decision that even the people with disabilities could climb the Everest.
Regulations on Mountaineering- 2059 disallowing the amputee and the visually impaired ones from climbing the Everest was found in compatible with fundamental rights of equality, thereby subjected to scrapping.
Bhanu Niraula had filed a writ petition on behalf of Central member of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ), Madhav Prasad Chamlagain, requesting the SC to scrap the Regulations on Mountaineering 2059 reasoning that it was against the rights of people with disabilities.
