Kathmandu: The Indian Embassy in Birgunj has organized a one-day ‘Athletics Meet’. The embassy has organized a one-day athletics meet at Narayani Stadium on Saturday to mark the 75th day of independence.

Launched by Consul General Nitesh Kumar, the event included seven track events including 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m and four field events including long jump, high jump, discus throw and putt.

Players from Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Birgunj Metropolitan City, Department of Telecommunications, Department of Electricity, Gyanada Academy, DPS and DAV R.B. Kedia School and Civil Society of Birgunj participated in the Meet. In the program, the best players have been awarded 51 prizes for individual events, 1 shield for the best player and 53 prizes including 1 trophy for the best team.

The main objective of the program is to develop harmony, coordination and cooperation between the various government bodies and civil society in Birgunj with the Consulate by highlighting the importance of health and well-being of the general public and promoting people-to-people contacts.
