Kathmandu- The Kathmandu Secretariat of BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation has celebrated the 131st Bhim Rao Ambedkar Jayanti. The program was inaugurated by the first President of Nepal, Hon’ble Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and celebrated Ambedkar’s birth anniversary.

Former Speaker Daman Nath Dhungana, Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, former Ambassador of Nepal to India Prof. Lokraj Baral and Secretary of BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation Navin Kumar were present on the occasion.

Scholars like Dr. Yam Bahadur Kisan, Kamala Hemchuri and Hari Sharma spoke on the occasion. Kathmandu University-Nepal Center for Contemporary Studies was also inaugurated in the program.

On the occasion, the First President of Nepal, Dr. Yadav, recalled Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar’s contribution for social justice and inclusion and his remarkable leadership and vision in drafting the Constitution of India.

Former Speaker Dhungana highlighted the relevance of Babasaheb Ambedkar’s message of constitutionalism and rule of law in the current context of Nepal and South Asia.
