Birgunj- India is going to issue UDID (Unique Disability Identity) to create a disability friendly environment. This information was given by Consul General Nitesh Kumar at a program organized by the Indian Embassy in Birgunj on Monday as part of the Amrit Mahotsav Special Week of Independence.

In order to create a disability-friendly environment, the embassy has organized the program on Monday under the Amrit Mahotsav Special Week of Independence to hear the problems of persons with disabilities (different abilities) for their dignity, rights and welfare.

The program titled ‘Disability: Legal Provisions and Social Norms’ discussed the treatment, rehabilitation and welfare of persons with disabilities in the Indo-Nepal border area.

Social organizations such as Human Service Ashram, Little Flower Leprosy Association, Rotary Club and Duncan Hospital also highlighted various laws and regulations made by the government to ensure equal rights and opportunities for persons with disabilities.

Members of Rotary Club of Birgunj – Abhishek Chaudhary, Pediatrician and members of Rotary Club of Birgunj – Dr. Anand Jha, Orthopedic Surgeon and Head of Rotary Limb Project of Birgunj – Dr. Shaswat Prasad, Secretary of Little Flower Leprosy Welfare Association of Raxaul Sunderpur, Shrikrishna, John Tho, in-charge of community rehabilitation project of Duncan Hospital in Raxaul and Sanu Gurung, coordinator of Human Service Ashram of Birgunj were present.
