COVID-19 cases exceed 30,000; Friday records 838 new cases

The number of coronavirus infections has exceeded 30,000 in the country with 838 new cases in the last 24 hours. Now, the total number of people infected with coronavirus has reached 30,483. A total of 13,579 persons were undergone PCR test across the country in the latest round. Spokesperson at Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Jageshwor Gautam, shared at a press meet that among the infection on Friday, 546 are males and 242 females.

Similarly, 250 people recovered their normal health. With this, the total number of people getting free from the virus has reached 18,214. As many as 133 infected persons have been undergoing treatment with ventilator support in different parts of the country. The active cases of infection stand at 12,132 now. Similar number of people is in quarantine and isolation, according to Dr Gautam. The latest infections are recorded in 50 districts.

182 cases in Kathmandu Valley In the last 24 hours, 182 persons got infected from the Kathmandu Valley alone. Among them, 142 are from Kathmandu, 25 from Lalitpur and 15 from Bhaktapur district. 11 die in a single day On a single day, 11 persons are recorded dead. It is the highest number of fatality so far.

The deaths are from Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Bara, Parsa, Morang, Saptari, Sarlahi, Makwanpur and Dolakha districts. With this, the number of people dying of coronavirus has reached 137. Meanwhile, Spokesperson Dr Gautam has said the government has spent more than Rs 3.18 billion in PCR tests.

The PCR tests are conducted among 579,899 people so far. Rs 104 thousand are spent in ascertaining a COVID-19 positive case. Similarly, nearly half million rupees is spent in 30 days for the treatment of a COVID-19 patient at hospital ICU, he added.
