Kathmandu- MetLife Nepal has partnered with the School of Mathematical Sciences (SMS) at Tribhuvan University to launch a merit-based actuarial scholarship program aimed at developing Nepal’s next generation of actuarial professionals.
Under the initiative, two outstanding undergraduate students will receive scholarships each year covering their semester fees throughout their four-year degree program. The scholarship is designed to strengthen actuarial expertise in Nepal’s insurance and financial services sector, where skilled professionals remain in short supply.
Students will be selected through a transparent evaluation process, with the program providing equal opportunities to talented candidates from diverse educational backgrounds, including government schools.
In addition to financial assistance, the partnership will offer practical learning opportunities, internships, and professional exposure to help students build careers in actuarial science, risk management, and insurance.
Speaking at the launch, Nirmal Kajee Shrestha, Vice President and General Manager of MetLife Nepal, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities while contributing to the development of actuarial expertise essential to Nepal’s financial future.
