Kathmandu- Senior BJP leader and Global Bharat Brand Ambassador Dr. Vijay Jolly recently concluded a significant visit to Nepal, aimed at strengthening India-Nepal relations through civilizational and cultural diplomacy. Invited by the Institute for Public Policy & Partnership, Nepal, led by ex-Foreign Policy Advisor Arun Kumar Subedi, Dr. Jolly addressed key academic and policy-oriented events in Kathmandu. He emphasized the deep-rooted civilizational ties and close cultural affinity between India and Nepal, calling them “inseparable partners of history and heritage.”
Dr. Jolly was the chief speaker at a program on “Cultural & Civilizational Aspects of Nepal-India Relations” held at Tribhuvan University, which was attended by postgraduate, M.Phil., and Ph.D. scholars, along with senior professors. He also spoke at another high-level forum titled “Nepal-India Relations in the Context of Contemporary World Affairs,” attended by prominent figures including former Foreign Minister N.P. Saud, former ministers Minendra Rijal and Shisir Khanal, political leaders, academics, and journalists.
During his visit, Dr. Jolly met with several top dignitaries, including Hon’ble President of Nepal Ramchandra Paudel, Deputy Prime Minister Prakash Man Singh, and senior members of the Nepali Congress Party such as Dr. Shekhar Koirala and Krishna Prasad Sitaula. In these interactions, he discussed regional cooperation, people-to-people connections, and mutual support against terrorism. Dr. Jolly also condemned Pakistan’s role in cross-border terrorism and highlighted the killing of 26 Hindus, including a Nepali citizen, in Pahalgam by Pakistan-backed terrorists.
Dr. Jolly offered prayers at Nepal’s sacred Pashupatinath Temple for the victims of the Pahalgam massacre. Accompanied by the Chief Priest Rawal Ganesh Bhatt, he prayed for peace and divine justice. He also visited the Dakshinkali Temple and the Santaneshwar Mahadev Temple, reflecting the spiritual bond shared between the two nations through common religious traditions.
The visit, marked by high-level engagements and spiritual homage, reaffirmed the strong historical and cultural bond between India and Nepal. Dr. Jolly’s efforts were widely appreciated for promoting friendship, counter-terrorism cooperation, and people-to-people dialogue across the two nations.
