Kathmandu – The Government of India has officially confirmed that the military operation carried out in Pakistan was a state-directed action.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed during a press briefing on Wednesday that the operation was in response to the Pakistani terrorist attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
He officially confirmed that the operation, named ‘Operation Sindoor’, targeted terrorist structures. According to Misri, despite two weeks passing since the attack, Pakistan had failed to take any concrete action against terrorist infrastructure. Instead, it had been engaged in baseless accusations and counter-allegations, forcing India to take retaliatory action in the form of ‘Operation Sindoor’.
Misri stated, “This operation is balanced, measured, and non-escalatory. Its objective is to dismantle the structures that spread terrorism and prevent further attacks on India.” He emphasized that the operation was aimed not against Pakistan’s military but specifically against terrorist groups.
The United Nations Security Council issued a statement on April 25 condemning the Pahalgam attack and urging that the perpetrators be brought to justice. India has urged that its latest action be seen as fulfilling the same international call for accountability.
Along with Misri, Colonel Sofia Qureshi of the Indian Army and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh of the Indian Air Force were present at the press conference and indicated that they are preparing to release further military details of Operation Sindoor.
