Kathmandu– The Jain International Trade Organisation (JITO) Nepal Chapter, under the leadership of its current Chairman, Mr. Kamal Begani, hosted a significant global event, the World Navkar Mahamantra Diwas, on April 9, 2025, the eve of Mahavir Jayanti.

The event took place at Bhagwan Mahavir Jain Niketan, Kathmandu, and was part of a worldwide celebration organized by JITO Apex through its various chapters. More than one crore devotees from over 108 countries participated in the event, marking a remarkable show of unity and devotion to peace, spiritual awakening, and universal harmony.

The Navkar Mahamantra holds profound importance in Jainism, being considered the most sacred mantra that encapsulates the essence of Jain philosophy. Reciting the Navkar Mantra was believed to purify the mind, body, and soul, fostering peace and spiritual growth. It consists of five key salutations to the divine beings – Arihants, Siddhas, Acharyas, Upadhyayas, and Sadhus – guiding followers toward liberation (moksha). The mantra serves as a reminder of the core Jain values of non-violence, truth, and compassion. The Navkar Mantra is not only meant for the Jain community but is intended for all, promoting universal peace and spiritual elevation for everyone.

Jainism, one of the world’s oldest religions, teaches respect for all living beings and emphasizes self-discipline, meditation, and the pursuit of spiritual enlightenment. The celebration of Navkar Mahamantra Diwas was a powerful occasion for fostering global unity and peace through shared devotion to Jain teachings.

The event, which featured the chanting of the Navkar Mantra by millions of devotees across the globe, was graced by the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, who virtually participated in the occasion. His involvement, along with the endorsement of numerous eminent celebrities and notable personalities, further amplified the importance of Jainism and the universal values it promotes.

In recognition of the immense participation and the scale of this event, JITO Nepal Chapter is in the process of applying for a Guinness World Record for the largest number of people simultaneously chanting a mantra, further cementing the historic nature of the occasion.

The tagline for the program, “Unite for World Peace”, reflected the spirit of the event, aiming to bring people together through collective devotion for a peaceful and harmonious world.

JITO Nepal Chapter invited all its members and the broader Jain community to join this global spiritual journey and celebrate the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti with devotion and reverence at Bhagwan Mahavir Jain Niketan, Kathmandu.
