Kathmandu – Minister for Water Supply, Government of Nepal Pradeep Yadav and Minister for Water Resources, Government of India CR Patil signed an MoU on the development of the Drinking Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector on Monday.

Minister Yadav on behalf of the Government of Nepal and Minister for Water Resources CR Patil on behalf of the Government of India signed the important MoU on the development of the Drinking Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector during a special program organized in the capital of India, New Delhi.

The objective is to promote friendly cooperation between both countries, strengthen inter-governmental cooperation in the sanitation sector, recognize the efforts and concerns of the Government of Nepal regarding water security, ensure access to safe drinking water in Nepal and enable people to earn their livelihood in a safe environment.

The agreement states that there will be groundwater management, technology and information exchange, rainwater collection and measurement, technology sharing, and technical and training assistance to the Government of Nepal.
