Minister for Agriculture, Land Management and Cooperatives, Chakrapani Khanal, has said the government has aimed at doubling the agriculture production in five year by preparing clear strategic infrastructures and policies.


In response to the queries raised by lawmakers on the appropriation bill related to his Ministry at the House today, Minister Khanal said adequate budget would be appropriated to the concerned bodies to buy necessary tools and bring in technical innovation for boosting agricultural production.
Quality of soil would be improved; laboratory for test would be set up, he said, adding that there was adequate budget for promoting farming with the use of compost.
According to him, the government has allocated Rs 400 million for the grants under the category of agriculture and livestock insurance. Strict monitoring mechanism would be in place to discourage adulteration.
A land use act would be brought for promoting arable land and the cooperatives would be taken to the local levels, added Minister Khanal.
