Community forest constructs embankment for safety

Kanchanpur, Aug 13 (RSS): The Kanchanpur-based Amar Community Forest has constructed an embankment at the cost of Rs 6 million for the control of swollen rivulet. The community forest located in Bedkot municipality-8, Rautela built the embankment with a length of 1,000 metres along the Trishuli and Rautela rivulets. It was shared that the forest did this from the amount received from the sale of wood, fodder and gravels. Mohan Bahadur Chand, Chairperson of Amar Community Forest, shared that the embankment was constructed to prevent land erosion triggered by the rivulets. “The embankment has secured 150 plus families”, he added. One more killed in jeep mishap

Palpa –  Kamal Pandey, 48, of Tansen-6, Bartung, who was injured after being hit by a jeep at Badigyantole, Palpa, has died this morning. Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) Binod Ghimire at District Police Office informed that Pandey breathed her last at 4.00 am while undergoing treatment at United Mission Hospital in Tansen. Earlier on Sunday, a nine-month baby, Nisan Basyal, of Bagnaskali rural municipality-3, Nayarnamtales died, the hospital sources said. Gaushala – The torrential rainfall last night has inundated Jaleswor jail –the joint prison of Mahottari, Dhanusha and Sarlahi districts. The 160-year-old Rana-era Jaleswor jail is located at lowland in Jaleswor municipality-2 which makes it a prone to inundation every year, shared jailor Shovendra Thakur. RSS can be transformed in to provincial structure-CM

Butwal –  Chief Minister of Province-5, Shanker Pokharel has urged the RSS leadership to transform the national news agency to provincial structure in the changed context. The concept of publishing provincial bulletin from RSS was appreciative, Chief Minister Pokharel said in a discussion with a RSS team led by its Chairperson Harihar Adhikari ‘Shyamal’ today. “The Province government does have its own media so the provincial media institute can be set up”, Pokharel said. He however asked the RSS leadership to demonstrate capacity having source of its news for establishing it a credible news agency. The news agency should perform in a way to develop its ownership outside in a natural manner rather not on compulsion, he added. The chief minister further said that the RSS can take up the responsibility for disseminating entire package of information of federal, provincial and local levels and urged the agency to internalize the provincial psychology. KMC operates senior citizens recreation centre

Kathmandu – The Kathmandu Metropolitan city has established senior citizen recreation and daycare center at ward 23 of the metropolis. The service center came into operation three months back, has attracted the senior citizens. Various musical instruments including harmonium, tabala, flute, madal, drums among other instruments are kept in the centre. Mayor Bidya Sundar Shakya shared that such center would be extended at other places to engage the senior citizens in a group creating harmonious and friendly environment.
