KATHMANDU – SAARC CCI (Nepal Chapter) Vice President Chandiraj Dhakal has said that South Asia offers many investment opportunities.

President Dhakal expressed this opinion while addressing the ‘2024 Sichuan-South Asia and Southeast Asia Business Development Cooperation Conference’ held in Chania on September 11.

Prominent business leaders from various South Asian countries attended the event organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), the Provincial People’s Government of Sichuan and the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAARC CCI).

President Dhakal, representing Nepal, said that South Asia is the world’s largest market in terms of size and potential. “Although untapped natural, social and economic resources here offer many investment opportunities, South Asia still faces many challenges such as weak technological infrastructure,” he said.

Stating that China is investing heavily in South Asian countries such as Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Nepal, he emphasised that expansion into other regions such as Bangladesh and India could further increase trade routes.

Dhakal highlighted the expertise of Chinese companies, particularly those from Sichuan, in large-scale infrastructure development and suggested possible cooperation in projects such as power plants, airports and smart cities across South Asia.

Prominent business leaders from various countries in South Asia and Southeast Asia were present at the event.
