Kathmandu — Dr. Vijay Jolly, a senior leader of India’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has said that the relationship between Nepal and India is not limited to cultural and familial bonds but also extends deeply into the military sphere.
Speaking at a press conference held in Kathmandu on Wednesday during his visit to Nepal, Jolly emphasized the multi-dimensional and unbreakable ties between the two neighboring countries. “Nepal and India share more than just roti and beti relations — there are also deep-rooted military connections,” he stated.
Jolly also remarked that the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) has lost its relevance. Once a powerful regional platform, SAARC has now become ineffective, and he attributed this failure primarily to Pakistan.
Expressing India’s consistent support for Nepal’s multi-party democratic system, Jolly stressed that all internal matters of Nepal should be decided solely by the Nepali people and their political leadership.
On the issue of secularism in Nepal, he said that the path forward should be guided by the will of the people, underlining that the sentiments of the Nepali populace must be respected.
