Kathmandu- The Defense Division of the Indian Embassy in Nepal organized an event on the occasion of the 74th Army Day of India.

General Prabhu Ram Sharma, Commander-in-Chief of Nepal and Honorary Veteran of the Indian Army, were the chief guest at the event. The ceremony was attended by former Chief of Army Staff of Nepal, retired army officers, officials of diplomatic circles, officials of the Government of Nepal, members of the think tank and journalists.

On the occasion, Excellency Mr. Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Ambassador of India to Nepal, recalled the deep historical sign between the Indian and  Nepal Army connecting the two countries in fraternal relations. Expressing gratitude for the selfless service and sacrifices made by the Gurkha soldiers in the Indian Army, he pledged that India would work for the welfare of the pensioners of the Indian Army and their families in Nepal.

Ambassador Kwatra paid tribute to General Bipin Rawat, who died in a plane crash on December 8, 2021, along with his wife Madhulika Rawat and 11 other soldiers.

On the occasion of the 74th Army Day of India, Chief of Army Staff Prabhuram Sharma wished the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army and Honorary General MM Narwane of the Nepal Army. Talking about the deep ties and long standing cooperation between the two armies, he lauded the Indian Army’s support to the Nepal Army in the fight against the covid-19 epidemic and its role in modernizing the Nepal Army.

On the occasion, General Sharma also honored the Gurkha soldier who won the Indian Army Bravery Award.
