Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gokul Prasad Baskota today said the government focuses on economic prosperity. “This is possible through agriculture,” he said while inaugurating ‘the First Kavre Potato Festival-2075’ organised at Bethanchowk Rural Municipality in Kavrepalanchok.
The event was hosted jointly by the Potato Super Zone Committee under Prime Minister Agriculture Modernization Project, and Bethanchok Coordination Committee, Dhungekharka.
He also urged all political parties to join hands for prosperity by abandoning the practice of political meddling. The budget for the fiscal year 2075\76 has prioritised agriculture, tourism, energy and transport which means for speeding up development activities, he said.
In another context, he expressed hope that Information Technology Park in the district which recently resumed after a long closure would offer education about information technology and employment opportunities to hundreds of people.
On the occasion, Chairperson of Bethanchok Rurral Municipality Prem Bahadur Timalsina stressed the need for the government to encourage farmers into agricultural modernisation.
The Potato Super Zone Office, Banepa Chief Kishor Panta said the project is yielding results in making potato farmers competitive and attracting them towards potato farming.
On the occasion, best five potato farmers from the district were honoured.
