Kathmandu: Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra has been appointed as India’s Foreign Secretary. Quatra was appointed foreign secretary by the Indian government on Sunday.

Kwatra was appointed Indian Ambassador to Nepal on January 30, 2020. Kwatra, who accompanied Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on his visit to India as ambassador, became foreign secretary the day after the visit ended.

He has previously worked in the Indian Ministry of External Affairs. He will replace Harsh Shringala, the current Foreign Secretary. Shringala has been receiving compulsory leave from the Indian Foreign Service since April 30.
