Kathmandu- The Indian Embassy in Nepal has celebrated its 57th Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) Day.

On Wednesday, the embassy celebrated the day by organizing a function in the presence of ITEC alumni who have received higher education and training from various prestigious institutes in India.

The event was graced to Indian Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra, Chief of Army Staff Maharthi Prabhuram Sharma, Senior Alumni of ITEC and Vice Chancellor of Janakpur-based Madhes Institute of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Ram Kewal Shah praised and honored  for their contribution to the nation.

Addressing the program, Ambassador Kwatra claimed that Nepal is the country that is most actively participating and receiving training in various training programs under ITECH.

According to him, more than two lakh people from all over the world have benefited from the ITECH programs during the 57 years of its establishment, while thousands of Nepali citizens have been trained under the special ITECH courses. For the past 15 years, India has been running special courses specially designed to meet the special needs of Nepal.

Similarly, Devendra Poudel, Minister of Education, who was the chief guest at the event, lauded the efforts made by the Indian Embassy to provide uninterrupted training through e-ITEC course to ensure continuity of Nepali ITEC students even during the Covid-19 epidemic.
