Kathmandu- A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the governments of the two countries for the supply of Nepal Urea and DAP fertilizer from India through G2G system.

A MoU was signed today between the Government of Nepal and the India Government for long term supply of Urea and DAP fertilizer from India to Nepal.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Govinda Prasad Sharma, Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development on behalf of Nepal and Rajesh Kumar Chaturvedi, Secretary, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India .

MoU was signed between the two sides during a virtual ceremony held today in the presence of Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Mahindra Ray Yadav and Indian Ambassador to Nepal Vinay Mohan Kwatra.

At the signing ceremony, Secretary Chaturvedi discussed the close and multilateral relations between India and Nepal. He also said that the agreement reached between the two sides is expected to further enhance the bilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture by contributing to Nepal’s economy and food security.

The agreement reached between the two sides is expected to address the recurring problem of fertilizer shortage in Nepal and provide benefits to Nepali farmers by increasing agricultural production. This MoU remains another milestone in bilateral economic cooperation between India and Nepal.
