Kathmandu- The inauguration of two new school buildings in Sarlahi district constructed under the grant assistance of the Government of India has been completed.

With the financial support of the Government of India, new school buildings of Shree Bal Govinda Janata Higher Secondary School at Pipariya, Kawilasi-2 and Netragunj, Shree Janata Madhyamik Vidyalaya at Lalbandi-1 have been inaugurated.

Deputy Chief of Mission of the Indian Embassy Namagya Khampa inaugurated the new school buildings of the two schools. Local representatives, district coordination committee officials, school management committee and locals were present at the inauguration ceremony.

Shree Bal Govinda Janata Higher Secondary School was established in 1960 and Shree Janata Madhyamik Vidyalaya was established in 1962. Both these schools had only primary education facilities. Netragaunj-based Shree Janata Secondary School is also being used for management and teaching of technical education.

Also, as the area is densely populated, the existing infrastructure is insufficient to meet the educational needs of the children in the area. The new school building will create a good environment for study in remote areas and will also contribute to the educational development of the district.

These school buildings have been constructed as a high impact community project as per the agreement reached between the Government of India, Government of Nepal and District Coordinating Committee Sarlahi.

Since 2003, India has carried out more than 523 high impact community development projects in Nepal. So far, 461 projects have been completed, of which 20 are in Sarlahi District and 58 in Province 2. In addition, the Indian government has provided 38 ambulances and a school bus to various health posts in Sarlahi district.

India and Nepal have a special relationship of friendship and cooperation. The two countries also have multilateral and multi-sectoral development partnerships. The construction of this educational infrastructure reflects the ongoing support of the Government of India to further strengthen the Government of Nepal’s efforts to develop infrastructure in the priority sector.
