Birgunj- The Indian Embassy has provided temporary relief goods.

During a ceremony on Wednesday, Consul General of the Embassy Nitesh Kumar handed over relief items to Member of Parliament and President of the Nepal-India Women Friendship Society (NIWFS).

These included tents, family rigid tents (single and double), plastic seats and sleeping backs.

Speaking on the occasion, Chaudhary expressed her gratitude to the Government of India for its assistance and said that the relief items would be distributed to the families of the six flood-hit districts of State-2.

“Considering the recent floods and loss of life and property, the entire consignment will be distributed through Parsa, Bara, Rautahat, Sarlahi, Mahottari and Dhanusha in coordination with the local administration through NIWFS,” she said.

On behalf of India, Kumar said that the gift was part of the Government of India’s regular humanitarian assistance and disaster relief assistance to Nepal under Nepal-India assistance.

After the ceremony, Kumar and Chaudhary jointly distributed the relief items to about 100 flood victims of Jagannath Municipality and Parsagadhi Municipality, one tent and one sleeping mat.
