Kathmandu- The 75th Independence Day of India has been celebrated at the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu.

Teachers and students of the embassy’s Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kathmandu performed patriotic songs and dances at the embassy today as ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’.

On the occasion, which was inaugurated by Indian Ambassador Vinay Mohan Kwatra, he read out a message from the President of India paying tributes to the progress made in various fields over the past 75 years and to the fighters who have sacrificed for India’s independence.

On the occasion, the Ambassador also honored the wives and relatives of the deceased Gurkha soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces by distributing blankets to each family, including a total of Rs. 44 million.

 

August 8 is a special occasion in India to commemorate the 75th anniversary of progressive India and the achievements made by Indians in all areas of human endeavor.

Launched in March 2021 to commemorate the Government of India’s ‘Amrit Mahotsav of Independence’, a historic milestone in the journey to independent India, the festival will continue till August 15, 2023.
