Kathmandu- The Nepal Red Cross Society (NERSO) has partnered with the Coca-Cola Foundation to increase the safety of frontline health workers and volunteers assisting patients during the Covid-19 epidemic.

The partnership between the two organizations will mobilize NERESO volunteers at government-led vaccination centers and provide transportation facilities for people with physical disabilities to be vaccinated.

The handover ceremony was held at the Teaching Hospital of Maharajgunj on Thursday. Representatives of Manita Rajkarnikar and Coca-Cola Nepal visited the teaching hospital. Security materials have been handed over to Ramesh Mahar Nank.

As part of the partnership project, personal safety equipment has been distributed to health professionals from Teaching Hospital, Armed Forces of Balambu, Patan Hospital, Janamitri Hospital and Nepal Medical Association. The distribution includes 12,500 surgical masks, 5,000 pairs of gloves, and 960 bottles of sanitizer.

In addition, the joint initiative has been implemented in 10 districts across Nepal where more than 31,000 beneficiaries have already reached the vaccination centers run by the Government of Nepal. The campaign has been carried out mainly in Dhading district of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan and Bagmati states as well as East Nawalparasi districts of Kaski, Tanahu, Gorkha, Lamjung and Gandaki states.

Nepal Red Cross blood transfusion service technicians, health workers, and ambulances have also been part of the beneficiaries. The partnership between the Nepal Red Cross and The Coca-Cola Foundation is an attempt to embark on the ‘Stop the Spread’ campaign to control the corona virus and protect frontline health workers and volunteers. The collaboration with Nereso is part of Coca-Cola’s ‘Stop the Spread’ campaign. The campaign has been announced at the beginning of the year with an initial contribution of Rs 2.4 Corore.
