Lalitpur: Hiranyavarna Mahavihar and Digi Che’s Reconstruction work has started . They were damaged due to the earthquake.

Reconstruction work of the monastery in Lalitpur district has been started on Thursday in accordance with the traditional culture of Chhema Pooja by their locality.

On that occasion, Officials from the Embassy of India in Kathmandu, Central Project Implementation Unit, Government of Nepal and INTACH were participated. The monastery is going to built with the help of the Government of India at a cost of Rs. 18.1 corore.

The Hiranyavarna Mahavihar, also known as the Golden Temple, is located in the memorial area of ​​the Patan Durbar area in Lalitpur, which is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This temple is one of the most important Buddhist monasteries in Patan. The Government of India has pledged US 50 million dollar for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of 28 earthquake-damaged cultural sites in Nepal.

This project is also one of the 28 projects. Reconstruction of seven cultural heritage projects is underway in Lalitpur district out of which reconstruction work is underway in five projects.
